A week in the life for this role?

The main focus for the associate is to play a key role in leading the firm’s engagements and to participate in practice development activities.  Our engagements range from M&A transactions and financings to strategic consulting and commercial assessments.  Our associates work with a Vice President and analyst to drive execution and closing of transformational deals.  The associate is responsible for leading execution and overseeing deliverables and analysis generated by analysts, identifying and managing discussions with target partners/investors, and supporting deal negotiations and closing.  They conduct outreach to potential partners/investors and play an active role in generating interest in and concluding a deal.  The associate is often tasked with managing all aspects of the day-to-day execution of a client engagement, including leading update calls with the client and overseeing all aspects of the analyst’s work. Practice development activities, including participation at conferences and networking events and building relationships with industry peers and prospective clients, are essential to furthering our growth.  An associate will help with pitch materials and prepare thought pieces for our marketing materials.  Our senior team deal is dedicated to the professional growth of our associates.  Each engagement provides a new learning opportunity.

Our firm has a multi-part compensation structure:

This person will implement Microsoft Dynamics’s CRM, ERP, PSA, and Talent solutions to fully integrate Locust Walk business processes. As per any similar job, he/she will design, code (as necessary), and test the modules that meet the architecture blueprint specification. Creating SOPs and related documentation and tutorials for other employees to use will be an important component of adoption. As the person gets to know the business better, he/she will help design improvements to the system across all the tools and create dashboards to provide visibility of key company metrics. Training the team to use the system is important as will troubleshooting any issues the team encounters. Additionally, this person will be the on-ground tech troubleshooting resource. There might be additional technical projects or initiatives to enhance the performance of the team.

Office & IT Coordinator

A week in the life for this role?

The main focuses for the Analyst are to play a key role in executing the firm’s engagements and to participate in business development activities. Our engagements range from business development, M&A transactions, strategic consulting to commercial assessments. Our Analysts assist in identifying target partners, maintaining contact logs and board update materials, producing marketing materials and financial analysis and modeling in support of negotiations. Commercial assessments also require discussions with key opinion leaders, leading analysis of secondary sources, full P&L models, and production of full commercial decks. Business development activities are essential to furthering our growth. An Analyst will contribute to maintaining and updating in support of Locust Walk’s mission as well as preparing thought pieces and analytics for our marketing materials.

Our senior deal team is dedicated to the professional growth of our Analysts. Each engagement provides a new learning opportunity and we aim to vary the team members assigned to new clients, so that everyone has the chance to work with different colleagues while still gaining exposure to different transactions.

Experience in the professional services industry. Intern experience in investment banks and management consulting firms or similar organizations in the life sciences will provide you with a good understanding of how we operate, best practices, and learnings you can contribute to our organization. Fluent in Japanese is essential and a requirement.

 Small firm experience. We’re a growing organization in four locations. While experience in larger corporate frameworks will be valuable in bringing additional expertise into our firm, an understanding and experience in a smaller environment is helpful for success.
