Callie brings a significant background in healthcare innovation and research to Locust Walk. Callie joined the Boston office of Locust Walk in 2018 after graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University. Callie received her BA from the Sanford School of Public Policy, while also minoring in Chemistry.
While at Duke, Callie gained experience in the life sciences through research, teaching, and innovation. Callie taught a supplementary organic chemistry class through the Duke SAGE Program. She also combined her passion for healthcare with her interest in innovation by pioneering the Duke Refugee Health Project. This project made healthcare information more accessible for resettled refugees by consolidating information on local clinics and providers, assessing refugees’ dominant health needs, and streamlining the health insurance application process. Callie also led planning and marketing efforts for the Duke Datathon, taught English to refugee women, and was President of Duke Political Union.
Outside of Duke, Callie interned as a consulting intern for BluePrint Income, the first online marketplace for personal pensions. She spearheaded research to understand female psychology around financial decision-making to improve strategic marketing efforts aimed towards women. Callie also previously worked as an intern for The Foundation for Health Leadership & Innovation, where she matched her interest in healthcare innovation with the unmet needs of financially disadvantaged residents in rural counties in North Carolina.
Outside of Locust Walk, Callie enjoys running marathons, hiking, and reading.
