Bluebird bio, inc. completed its successful IPO last June, helping to make 2013 a remarkable year for the Boston entrepreneurial community as well as the biotech sector. Nick joined the 22-year-old company as Interim President and was named chief bluebird (a.k.a. Chief Executive Officer and President) in 2010. His leadership has included shaping a distinct company culture, building and leading a team through the complexities of clinical trials for gene therapy, and enabling a transition from being a venture-backed start-up to a publicly-traded company.
